Take That album sells 133,000 copies on first day - Reuters - 02.12.08

Take That's latest album "The Circus" sold 133,000 copies in Britain on its first day of release on Monday, according to record company Polydor, a unit of Universal Music.

Citing figures from the Official Charts Company, the label said on Tuesday that Take That enjoyed the biggest first day sales of the year, outpacing Coldplay's latest album which sold 125,000 copies in one day in June.

Polydor added that Take That was on course to top the album chart on Sunday with one of the biggest weekly sales tallies on record.

The first-day tally came despite wholesaler Entertainment UK going into administration last week, leaving some key retailers without the Take That album on Monday.
