Will Peter Kay's Geraldine be Christmas Number One? - Bolton News - 15.12.08

SHE is tubby, started life as a man and hardly has the best singing voice in the world.
But that won’t stop Geraldine McQueen — otherwise known as Peter Kay — in her audacious bid to snatch the Christmas number one slot from under the noses of X-Factor chiefs. Today, battle commences for the coveted position, with more than a dozen artists and groups fighting it out.
And Geraldine is predicting great things for her catchy number — co-written with Take That’s Gary Barlow — called Once Upon a Christmas Song.
She said: “Simon Cowell is the Grinch that stole the Christmas single.
“I’m stealing it back for the people of Britain — and the NSPCC.”
Geraldine’s Christmas single will go head to head with the favourite, X-Factor winner Alexandra, who is 1/8 on to win.
The other two singles in the top four favourites list are Terry Wogan and Aled Jones, with their version of Little Drummer Boy (8/1), and Leona Lewis, with her version of Snow Patrol’s Run (8/1).
'If any of you can download it via iTunes or any legal download site so it also contributes to its chart position then do so!! All proceeds are going to NSPCC childrens charity so its a really good cause too!! About time the UK had a christmas song at number 1 instead of the X Factor winner single like we have for the last 6 or so years!!!! We find out who won at got Xmas no 1 on sunday at 6.50pm!!
Listen to & watch the video to the song here: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=8kmPz5IbU90' xxx

Haha!! Who did you think she was his slightly butch looking sister or something....hehe!! Really hope this gets to number one!! I get fed up with X Factor ruining the traditional xmas number 1 every year!!!
Oh and I said about 6 yrs we've had xmas no1 ruined by X Factor etc for, well I actually worked out its been about 8-9 years we've had the talent competition winners getting xmas number 1 with a song thats not xmassy in the slightest. Starting with Will Young back in 1999...ick!!! Then followed by Girls Aloud in 2000!! So annoying!!! x
